Why you should buy the Kindle Paperwhite.

Hey there guys! Welcome back to my little blog where we look at all things Computer and Electronics.  I’ve owned the Kindle Paperwhite myself for nearly 2 years now, and I absolutely love it.  I’ve used it so much that the case I originally bought for it has now fallen to shreds so I found a really cute second hand Leather cover for it, which I bought here; http://www.used.forsale/kindle-paperwhite-leather-cover.

As much as I love reading from a traditional print book when the opportunity arises, I usually read from my Kindle Paperwhite for many reasons.

  1. Everything available at your fingertips.

You can either choose to download all your books onto your kindle before travelling, or you can just wait till you have internet access and then your entire library of books (plus the entire library of books at Amazon or any other eBook supplier)

I like to download my whole library onto my Kindle, or at least all the books I haven’t read.  This means that when i’m out and I don’t like the book that I’m reading, or I have finished it, I can either look through my library and choose another of the books I have.  It also means that I can download books immediately when I’m bored, rather than struggling through a book which I dislike, or not reading one.

This just makes using a kindle so much more convenient than paper books and having to visit libraries, especially when on a long trip, and it allows you so much more freedom to travel with less items.

  2. Free e-books and daily deals from Kindle and Amazon.

Every day there are thousands of books available for free on Amazon, and only available for Kindle.  Some of these books are classical books, whilst others are indie authors, or short books which are available for free.  Also the first book in a trilogy is often free so that you get hooked, and purchase the next two (and i have to say it’s worked numerous times with me!)  You can even sometimes get books from major authors for free, and lots of the time they have them for as little as $0.99.

This means that even if you don’t like the book, or if Indie fiction isn’t your thing you really can’t beat a free book so you may as well give it a go.  I regularly check the free eBook section on Amazon and whilst they might have a few problems, especially with the endings, and the editing, for the most part they are well edited and well thought out.

  3. Kindle Paperwhite glows.

The best part about the Kindle Paperwhite, rather than any other Kindle is that the screen has the ability to light up whilst still maintaining it’s paper-like screen.  This technology is referred to as E-Ink, and it is the appearance of a Print Book, and it makes reading easier than on a computer or other electronic screen which is backlit.  It mimics the texture of a newspaper, and helps making reading easier and causes less eye strain.

Reading in low light is difficult and is just as bad on your eyes as reading on a backlit screen.  The lighting from the Kindle Paperwhite provides a small glow which allows you to read without straining your eyes.

  4. Kindle library sharing.

Another great thing about Kindle libraries is that you can loan books you have on your kindle account to a friend, or family member as long as they have an amazon e-mail address and the book has been enabled by the author.  The book is lent for a predetermined amount of time, and as soon as it is over the book is returned to your library.  During the time the book is loaned you don’t have access to it.

  5. It is travel friendly.

A Kindle is the most travel friendly way to read whilst on holiday.  It’s smaller than any hardback or paperback book, and can quite literally fit into your pocket, although I don’t recommend it!  It is easy to carry with you anywhere and everywhere you might want to read.  For me the Kindle Paperwhite is a great device which means I have more access to more books whilst living 10,000 km away from my home, and somewhere without easy access to books. Check out a full review now at http://www.trustedreviews.com/kindle-paperwhite-2015-review.

I had previously used my iPad Pro to read on, and whilst it is a great stepping stone I would highly recommend buying a Kindle Paperwhite if you are someone who likes to read on a regular basis.  It is so convenient and useful for travelling and maintaining reading on a regular basis.  The only drawback to a Kindle is the price to replace if it is damaged, one of my favourite places to read is whilst in the bathtub, which is unfortunately something that is far to nerve wracking for me due to the cost.

Bizarre PC Storage Formats

Hey everyone, I would like to welcome you all back to my computers and electronics blog. You know, everything that we have in the computer world that has made it as a universal standard has so many others to thank for their success. There are always countless heads that are stepped on in order to make it to the top, and in computers the bodies attached to those heads usually fall right off the pyramid. Data storage is a great example. We remember some of the greats, like 5.25 and 3.25 inch floppies and CD-ROM disks. Some of you out there might even remember the ZIP disks. But if you take a closer look, there are many, many more casualties. Read more

Outsourcing IT

Outsourcing IT

Many business leaders state that the most important asset of any organisation are it’s people, or staff, few would argue with that. The second most important asset of any organisation is it’s information, I would wholeheartedly agree with both claims. The problem is that outsourcing IT is a very attractive proposition, for the same reason outsourcing anything that is not your core business. For example, why would an investment bank invest in an IT department of their own, when it’s not their business, they’re an investment bank after all. Read more

External Hard Drives

External Hard Drives

Hey there peeps, welcome back to another exciting entry in my electronics blog! I know you all are probably getting geared up for thanksgiving, I sure am! The wife’s whole family is coming down, including the dozen or so young kids! Yay! I am bubbling with excitement! Well I actually am because this year I got 6 external hard drives full of more TV shows and movies than you could shake a stick at. We got 3 TV’s, 2 laptops, and 2 tablets plus whatever everyone else is bringing so these kids should be able to watch Frozen and the same episode of Spongebob Squarepants as many times as they want, wherever they want. I love having all these little hard drives to whip out whenever is needed. I have 20 of them all together excluding flash drives and solid state hard drives and they are the most useful piece of technology I have( mostly because my stupid phone doesn’t work) Read more

Educational Computer Games

Educational Computer Games

Hey guys, a warm welcome back to my computer and electronics blog. I know that a lot of you reading this are parents, and as parents who read a computer blog where I talk about gaming often I would assume you want to get your child into gaming or already have. If you already have then you know where I'm going, but if not then let me show you the world of Educational Computer Software. I was born in the beginning of the computer age, where most people had a computer in their house. My mom got me on the computer at home very early, and had me using the mouse before I could sue my own legs. This has definitely helped me out, from my prowess in video games to my ability to use most electronic gadgets with no issue. These educational software were very helpful to my development and if you have a small child I suggest you give them a go. Read more

Apple Video Streaming

Video Streaming on Your Apple TV

Greeting fellow computer and electronics lovers, I am back! This week I picked up an Apple 40GB Apple TV from an online classified ads website and I have been so happy with it! I am able to sit in bed, eat pizza with my laptop directly on my crotch and watch something on the TV without having any cords to my laptop. Hizzah! This is what being on the top of the food chain gets you! Of course, I needed to have some good streaming options downloaded onto my Apple TV or it would be all for not. So, if you're like me and want to eat pizza in bed while watching grown men beat the ever-loving hell out of each other and then watch some weird brother sister stuff fully sanctioned by the FCC then you should download these video streaming apps.
